Job Description:

This position will provide counseling services and healthcare navigation to melanoma and skin cancer patients and caregivers across Canada. The candidate will also be responsible for the recruitment, on-boarding, tracking and retention strategy for volunteers with a special emphasis on the Peer-to-Peer Support volunteer program.

Note: This position is to fill a contract for parental leave

  • Degree in counselling, social work or related healthcare-community health discipline with experience in oncology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Strong active listening, empathy, compassion, conflict and crisis management, and problem solving skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in designing, developing and delivering volunteer management program.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Successful track record of developing strong working relationships with volunteers, healthcare facilities and community organizations.
  • Knowledge of the oncology community and service delivery is an asset.
  • Experience working with cancer patients preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong problem solving, priority setting, decision making skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) CRM Salesforce, SurveyMonkey, and Zoom.
  • Reliable, hard-working, committed, compassionate, and passionate individual who wants to make a difference in their community, and whom is accountable for their work and projects.
  • Must be available office hours of 9-5PM EST, with the ability to work flexible hours and able to travel overnight for meetings and presentations (<20% travel is required).
  • Must have access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
