CAPO is committed to fostering and encouraging interdisciplinary
excellence in psychosocial research education and clinical
practice in oncology. To recognize achievements in the
advancement of psychosocial oncology, the organization
offers several awards programs.
CAPO 2010 Awards
CAPO presented five prestigious awards during the 12th World Congress of Psycho-Oncology.
CAPO President’s Award – Presented to the Honourable Steven Fletcher, PC, MP, Minister of State for Democratic Reform. This award is presented to an individual or organization who, in the opinion of the Board of Directors of the association, has made exceptional contributions to fostering the objectives of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology
CAPO Life Time Achievement Award – Presented to Dr. Harvey Max Chochinov. This annual award honours a CAPO/ACOP member who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association, has made exceptional and enduring career contributions to Psychosocial Oncology. Prior to 2010, this award was called the CAPO Award of Excellence.
CAPO Award for Research Excellence – Presented to Dr. Linda E. Carlson, this award recognizes an individual who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association, has made a significant research contribution to Psychosocial Oncology.
CAPO Award for Clinical Excellence – Presented to Dr. John Robinson, this award recognizes an individual who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association has made outstanding clinical contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology in Canada.
CAPO Award of Education Excellence – Presented to Dr. Carmen Loiselle, this award recognizes an individual who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association, has made a significant contribution to education and training in psychosocial oncology in Canada.
CAPO Award for Research Excellence
This award shall be made to recognize an individual who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association, has made a significant research contribution to Psychosocial Oncology.

CAPO Award for Clinical Excellence
This award shall be presented by the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association to an individual in recognition of outstanding clinical contributions to the field of psychosocial oncology in Canada.

CAPO Award of Education Excellence
This award shall be made to recognize individuals who, in the opinion of the Awards Committee and the Board of Directors of the association, have made a significant contribution to education and training in psychosocial oncology in Canada. The recipient of this award must meet the following criteria:
